Frequently Asked Questions
The Alcoholics Anonymous East African Convention is a large gathering held in Kisumu, Kenya, for AA members to share their experience, strength, and hope with each other to support their common recovery from alcoholism. The event features speaker meetings, workshops, and fellowship activities focused on the AA's three legacies: Recovery, Unity, and Service.
The convention is open to anyone with a desire to stop drinking. Family members, friends, and anyone interested in learning more about the Alcoholics Anonymous program of recovery are also welcome to attend the "open" meetings and events throughout the weekend.
This is a hybrid event, offering two ways to participate:
In-Person: You can attend physically at the main convention venue in Kisumu, Kenya.
Online: You can join virtually through a dedicated online platform that will stream the main meetings and selected workshops. Both in-person and online attendance require prior registration through the official convention website.
Registration fees vary depending on whether you attend in-person or online. There is a standard registration fee that covers access to all meetings and convention materials. Optional items, such as special dinner packages for the gala night, are available for an additional cost. For a complete list of prices, please visit the ticket section.

Why I will keep coming back:* My first convention in Arusha not only posed as a spiritual reset but also increased my desire to serve. Watching others be of service reminded me that giving back is the heart of recovery – and the joy of it. I left recharged, spiritually, emotionally, and in service.
